Life Changing Decision ..........

I have acquired this fabulous wooden box .......

no problem filling it........

but I am not very partial to black .......

question is ....do I paint it with chalk paint and alter it ?

or shall I leave well alone ..........

what do you think....any suggestions would be welcome......

  1. I would totally keep it the same. i think that painting it might take away some of the charm.

  2. I am amazed to see your box I have had exactly the same one since i was a child but without the handle.Over the years it has kept many
important things for me.last month my daughter came to stay and asked if she could have it one day.I gave it to her then. Its a box of memories for us and we love the black and orange though it is getting a little battered now. You can only do what feels right for you with the box.

  3. Ooooooh!....I only just stopped myself from from getting rid of that dusty depressing black!.....it might have something to do with the fact that I have just discovered chalk paint ....it is fabulous to use, and I am bursting to use it again. I don't really want to obliterate the hard work that went into making it ....but I feel the need to be surrounded by bright happy colours. It is funny how you can be affected by other people's opinions .....

So Lisa I have taken on board what you have said and there is no going back once I have taken the plunge!

Jill.....I wonder where they originated from and where is your handle? Maybe the one I have had a handle added later.Mine is battered and dingy, but I love the shape. It is a very photogenic little box because the photo definately does it justice. Do I or don't I? ...that is the question......the jury is out!

Thankyou for stopping by your suggestions!

  4. I love your box and I would leave it just as it is! I think the black isn't at all dusty and depressing - more of a subtle and sophisticated background to the colour of the design. It's gorgeous!

  7. It seems to me that you would very much like to paint it, so although I like it as it, i don't think that you do from seeing your posts. So i would whole heartedly support you in painting this!

  8. Oh Dear! I am so undecided what to do!....And thankyou Lisa for giving me permission to paint it! I might try cleaning it and giving it a good wax to see if it brings out the colours ....if that doesn't work then .....you know what's coming next ....thankyou all for your views ....the jury is out .....
